Jean Silva became the target of criticism from fans and some UFC fighters during his trip to Israel. After appearing in a photo alongside an Israeli soldier, the Brazilian, who had previously been questioned for using the country's flag, was criticized by names like former champions Sean Strickland and Belal Muhammad , who interpreted his stance as possible support for the nation. Faced with the negative reaction, the fighter decided to speak out.

In a post on the social network X, Jean Silva explained that his presence in the country is directly linked to supporting a teammate. The fighter emphasizes that, even aware of possible criticism, he chose not to abandon his friend at an important moment in his career.

“I’m here 100% because of the fight of Fighting Nerds fighter Illay, who is one of my main sparring partners. Nobody could go, and this fight could get him to the contender list. He goes to all my fights, I knew it would be controversial but I chose not to abandon my brother of many years,” wrote Jean Silva.

"I know the hate I've been getting regarding this, but I didn't want to abandon my partner of many years in one of the most important fights of his life because of hate," Nerd concluded.

In a previous post on 'X', Strickland reiterated his criticism and questioned how much money it would take to kiss the Israeli wall.
