Magomed Ankalaev has once again expressed interest in sharing the octagon with Paulo Borrachinha . After debuting in the light heavyweight division (up to 93 kg) with an impressive knockout , the Brazilian gained prominence in the new division and came onto the radar of the Russian, who even praised him and issued a direct ultimatum for a possible fight.
In an interview with 'Red Corner', Ankalaev adopted a critical tone when analyzing Borrachinha's recent trajectory, questioning his performance in his former weight class and his enthusiasm after the weight change. The fighter also made it clear that he is willing to face him if the Brazilian wants to advance in the division, but indicated that he sees no point in the fight if his opponent chooses to avoid the confrontation.

“Costa didn’t do well in his division, then he moved up in weight, won a fight, and became talkative. If he’s ready to step up, we’ll wait for him. But if he’s going to run and get away, I don’t see the point in fighting him,” said Ankalaev.
Magomed Ankalaev dominates Bogdan Guskov, but bores audience at UFC Abu Dhabi
Having not fought since his loss to Alex Poatan at UFC 320 in October 2025, Magomed Ankalaev returned to action at UFC Abu Dhabi against Bogdan Guskov . Despite leaving no doubt about his superiority, the Russian failed to excite the fans.
Ankalaev controlled Guskov for four rounds with little action and, only in the fifth round, already under boos from the crowd, managed to secure a technical stoppage via ground and pound, more due to his opponent's fatigue than to the damage caused by his own strikes.
