Anyone who thinks Valter Walker 's stunning victory at UFC Abu Dhabi was just a formality is mistaken. In fact, the Brazilian confirmed his favoritism without any difficulty at the event held last Saturday (25), but the triumph against Thomas Petersen by submission in just over a minute was extremely significant. So much so that the athlete became the owner of historical statistics in the company, especially in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg).
By dominating the American with ease, Valter secured his fifth consecutive victory, all by submission in the first round . In fact, his record is so impressive that the Brazilian even left Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane , the undisputed and interim champions of the division, respectively, behind.

It's worth highlighting that Walker holds the longest winning streak among active UFC heavyweights and also the record for the most knockout victories among all active fighters in the organization.
Furthermore, the bad boy equaled Demian Maia 's record . Therefore, Valter holds the longest winning streak by submission in UFC history.
Another interesting fact is that the Brazilian, who had been using heel hooks on his opponents, innovated at UFC Abu Dhabi by winning via calf hook. The move is so rare that Walker became the fourth professional in the organization's history to win using this method.
Not satisfied, the Rio native went on to threaten fighters who made history in the heavyweight division. At 28 years old and with only six fights in the UFC, Valter has already submitted five opponents and become the fourth all-time leading finisher in the category , surpassing Fabricio Werdum and Gabriel Napão . The only professionals ahead of him are Frank Mir (eight), Aleksei Oleinik (seven), and Stefan Struve (six).
