In a light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) duel at UFC Abu Dhabi , held this Saturday morning (25), at the Etihad Arena, Brendson Ribeiro was defeated by unanimous decision of the judges and reached his fourth consecutive defeat in the Ultimate. With the result, the Brazilian now has two wins and six losses in eight fights for the organization, while Magomed Tuchalov achieved his first victory in the octagon and remained undefeated.

Brazilian team starts better, but suffers a comeback defeat.

In the first round, the fight began cautiously, with the Brazilian trying to find his range. Brendson moved around a lot, combining punches and investing in low kicks to weaken his opponent's base. In the final stretch of the round, the two engaged in a fierce exchange of blows, and the Brazilian came out on top by landing the more significant strike, which knocked Tuchalov down.

In the second round, Brendson Ribeiro maintained his strategy and regained control of the distance. His opponent tried to impose his ground game and attempted a takedown, but the Brazilian defended well against the first attempt.

Subsequently, the Russian landed the most significant blow of the round, seizing the moment to take the fight to the ground and gain Brendson's back, who managed to get back to his feet. In the final moments, however, Tuchalov found another counter-punch and took the Brazilian down again, ending the round on top.

In the final round, Tuchalov returned to his grappling game and managed to take the fight to the ground in the first few seconds. After the action was interrupted and the fight returned to standing, Brendson found more openings in the striking exchanges and gained the advantage. However, when attempting a takedown, the Brazilian ended up suffering a counter-takedown from the Russian, who assumed the dominant position and maintained control until the end of the fight. The Russian won by unanimous decision of the judges, a triple decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

'King' defeats veteran early in the event.

In the first fight of the card, in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2 kg), Abdul Hussein made a successful UFC debut by submitting veteran Cody Gibson . The young prospect achieved a remarkable victory and reached his 15th win by submission or knockout in his career, reinforcing his reputation as a specialist in finishing fights before the limit.

In the first round, Gibson tried to assert his reach advantage, effectively managing distance with jabs and kicks. However, the veteran found the right timing for a takedown and took the fight to the ground, where he threatened with submission attempts. Hussein showed composure in his defense, evaded the attacks, and managed to reverse the position, assuming the dominant stance.

With about two minutes remaining in the round, Cody Gibson got back to his feet. In the final moments, the two exchanged good blows on their feet, but Abdul Hussein increased the pace, closed the distance, and pressured his opponent to neutralize the more experienced fighter's physical advantage.

In the second round, Hussein needed only a few seconds to change the course of the fight. The fighter landed a clean right hand, knocking Gibson down. He then used his advantage to dominate the action on the ground, maintaining positional control and looking for submissions for virtually the entire remainder of the round, giving his opponent no room to react.

In the final round, Abdul Hussein returned determined to apply pressure from the very first moments. Cody Gibson still managed to land a low kick and execute a takedown, but couldn't maintain the dominant position. The young fighter took advantage of the opening to reverse control on the ground, gain the upper hand, and calmly lock in a precise katagatame, forcing the veteran to tap out and ending the fight by submission.
