Alex Poatan couldn't change the mind of one of his fans, even after reprimanding him on social media. Recently, the former champion drew attention by mocking a follower who disagreed with his protest about Michel Pereira 's dismissal from the UFC. Furthermore, the Pataxó fighter even exchanged messages with the internet user and explained his point of view, but even that wasn't enough to convince him.
It all started when Poatan expressed his dissatisfaction with Michel Pereira 's departure from the UFC and linked the episode to Herb Dean's performance in the 'flying Paraense's' farewell fight . In the comments of the post, Paulinho 'Consultor da Honda' disagreed with the fighter and ended up receiving a direct response from the former champion. On that occasion, Poatan stated that he would buy a motorcycle with him to raffle off among the authors of the worst comment on the post, indicating that, up to that moment, the follower was leading the 'contest'.
In an exclusive interview with SUPER LUTAS , the motorcycle salesman stated that, even after Alex Poatan explained his position on the refereeing and the social media post, he maintained his opinion. According to him, despite his respect for Brazilian fighters, he believes that Michel Pereira was no longer delivering enough to remain in the organization.
“Even after he explained his situation regarding the refereeing and the publication, I still maintain my opinion. With all due respect, I love Brazilian fighters, but Michel Pereira couldn't continue . If I were in the organization, I would think about that too. It seemed like the fear of losing was greater than the desire to win,” said Paulinho.
Fan justifies comment, compares fighters, and demands more commitment in the UFC.
The fan further explained that his comment on social media stemmed precisely from this interpretation of the situation. Although he doesn't fully agree with the dismissal, he stated that he understands the context of the decision. To support his point, he cited cases of fighters who, in his view, were unfairly dismissed, such as Lipe Detona , highlighting the level of difficulty of the opponents faced and the commitment demonstrated inside the octagon.
“That’s why I made that comment. I didn’t agree with the cut itself, but I understood the context. There are cases of fighters who were released undeservedly, like Lipe Detona . The guy only faced tough opponents, lost by decision, always came out injured, gave his blood in the octagon. That type of fighter, yes, deserved more recognition. As for Michel, with all due respect, he didn’t deserve it anymore. I even apologize if he hears this later, but it’s my opinion,” the fan continued.
Finally, Paulinho highlighted his long-standing relationship as a UFC fan, having followed the event since childhood and investing financially to attend the fights. In his view, the public plays a fundamental role in maintaining the sport, as they are responsible for consuming the product.
“I’ve been following the UFC since I was a kid, since the Georges St-Pierre era. I pay to watch, I follow it regularly. In the end, they depend on us, the fans. We’re the ones who pay, we’re the ones who watch. And the fans want to see real fighting, they want to see commitment, not that kind of thing,” concluded the motorcycle salesman.

A fan analyzes Poatan's reaction and sees indignation with the refereeing as the root of the 'controversy'.
In addition to defending his rights as a consumer of the event, Paulinho also analyzed the reaction of the former champion himself. The motorcycle salesman stated that he has been following the fight scene for quite some time and highlighted Michel Pereira 's career . According to him, despite the divided opinions among fans, he believes that Alex Poatan showed great irritation with the refereeing, since he is at odds with Herb Dean.
“I’ve been following wrestling for a long time and I’ve seen Michel Pereira ’s career . Even though many are in his favor and others in my favor, I believe Alex is very angry with the refereeing. The reason he posted that video was because of that, not because of the dismissal. He got very angry because I commented on that and, since he’s a guy who likes to talk, he ended up responding too, and that’s what happened,” said Paulinho.
The fan also revealed that he wasn't surprised by Poatan's reaction itself, but rather by the context. He mentioned that the wrestler had already demonstrated similar behavior on other occasions, such as after his defeat to Magomed Ankalaev , when he criticized his opponent's style.
“What impressed me most wasn’t even his response to me, saying he’d buy a motorcycle with me and give it to the person who made the worst comment, really, because that’s just how he is. After the loss to Ankalaev, for example, he also said that the guy fights boringly, that he just grapples. He likes to take a stand when something happens that he considers wrong,” he continued.
"What caught my attention the most was the pinning of the comment. If you look closely, what's pinned there is my comment. That really caught my attention. The response itself didn't impress me," concluded the motorcycle salesman.
