Former middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg), Dricus du Plessis now wants to achieve a new status in MMA: that of king of Africa. Last Saturday (18), the South African punished Kamaru Usman in the main fight of UFC Oklahoma City and won by unanimous decision. Now, the athlete is eyeing an even bigger challenge.

In footage released by 'Full Send MMA', Du Plessis, in a relaxed mood and drinking some beers, challenged Francis Ngannou to a fight. It's worth explaining that the challenge made by the athlete was just a joke. And there's an explanation for the South African mentioning 'The Predator'.

Before Dricus became champion, Africa had Israel Adesanya , Ngannou, and Usman at the top of the UFC. Therefore, since he prevailed over the Nigerians, many fans remembered that the athlete would have to face the Cameroonian to have a 100% success rate against the group. Aware of the idea, DDP joined in the joke, since there's no way the fight can happen. The giant is in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg) and is out of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

"Ngannou, you're taking everything I've worked for, you son of a bitch. I want to fight you!", said the former UFC champion.

Dricus du Plessis , 32, is one of the best middleweight fighters in MMA history. The South African began his career in the sport in 2013, debuted in the UFC in 2020, and became the champion of the category in 2024, making two title defenses.

In this discipline, the athlete built a record of 24 wins, 20 by stoppage (11 by submission and nine by knockout), and three losses. His main victories were over Darren Till , Derek Brunson , Israel Adesanya , Kamaru Usman , Robert Whittaker , and Sean Strickland (twice).
