The controversial fight between Michel Pereira and Shara Magomedov continues to generate discussion. The Brazilian faced the bad boy in June in Azerbaijan and suffered a comeback defeat, losing by unanimous decision. Feeling wronged by the Russian's conduct in the fight and by Herb Dean's refereeing, the "Flying Paraense" complained about the result and remains unconvinced by the loss. But, according to Gor Azizyan, coach of Valter Walker and "Pirata," the athlete is exaggerating.
The professional defended his fighter and downplayed Michel's complaint after the defeat. In the duel, the Brazilian started with a clear advantage and saw Shara warned more than once by Herb for holding his hair. During the break, the referee spoke with the Russian and explained the rules again. After the warnings, the bad boy unintentionally poked his rival in the eye in the third round and went unpunished.

Furthermore, if the referee had penalized the athlete for the infractions, the fight would have ended in a draw. Since the loss marked Michel's fourth defeat in his last five fights, the UFC fired him . Aware of the Brazilian's dissatisfaction with the controversial fight , Gor pointed out that he is the one who usually applies illegal strikes without being punished by the referees, largely due to his acrobatic moves.
“Actually, Shara didn’t do that. Honestly, I knew he would get angry if you pulled his hair. I think Michel doesn’t have the right to speak , because before that he beat a guy with an illegal strike. He jumped and hit his head with his knee. Before that, he jumped and hit another opponent’s groin, but he was still declared the winner, despite using an illegal strike,” the coach told 'Red Corner MMA'.
“But in this case, he didn’t lose because of what Shara did . He had two more rounds. Get up, fight, and win. Don’t run . He was running away from Shara . It wasn’t an illegal strike that decided the outcome of the fight, unlike him. He had two fights that he won thanks to illegal moves,” he concluded.
