Conor McGregor isn't thinking about retirement. Even after suffering a serious knee injury and being defeated by Max Holloway at UFC 329 last Saturday (11), in Las Vegas (USA), the Irish star guaranteed that he intends to return to the octagon and revealed that his main objective is a rematch. Furthermore, the former champion denied that he entered the fight injured and explained the difference between this injury and the one he suffered in the first fight against 'The Blessed'.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), 'Notorious' denied that he entered the fight injured and stated that his goal is to face Holloway again upon his return. Responding to speculation that he already had physical problems before the fight, the former champion was direct and assured that he was in his best physical condition.

“Another silly thing. I had no problem at all. I took my shoe off on the side of the octagon, with my foot sweaty, without a sock, and I took the shoe off with the sole of my foot free. It was a brief moment of imbalance. I was prepared. In shape. Healthy. My engine, my oxygen, my blood, my heart rate, have never been in better condition,” McGregor wrote.

Subsequently, the Irishman also put an end to any doubt about who he wants to face when he recovers and revealed that he intends to have a rematch against Holloway again as soon as he returns to the octagon.

"It has to be Holloway," summarized the former featherweight (up to 65,7 kg) and lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) champion.

Finally, McGregor explained why the injury he suffered at UFC 329 was different from the one he had in their first fight in 2013. According to him, this time the problem affected the leg responsible for supporting his movements during the fight.

“The first fight happened in the middle of the second round and we were positioned on the ground in a way that didn’t require any weight-bearing support. Also, it was my left leg, which is my back leg in the fighting stance. When you attack, you move to your front leg, so the effect was less,” said the Irish star.

“I managed to attack enough and get into a takedown. This time, it was with my lead leg. My right leg. All my movements were affected. And it wasn't me who asked to stop the fight,” he concluded.
