The biggest name in Brazilian MMA, Alex Poatan, drew attention this Thursday (16) for a reason completely unrelated to the octagon. After being involved in some online controversies recently, the former middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) and light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) champion criticized the repercussion of these episodes to the detriment of the Poatan Institute, created by him a year ago.

In his Instagram stories , the Brazilian questioned why the institution doesn't receive more media attention, arguing that there's no interest from sports personalities in publicizing the actions carried out by the Institute.

“Where are the media people to make videos commenting on my institute, which for a year has been helping to change the future of more than 600 children? Good news also deserves space. Transforming lives should be as much of a topic as any other headline,” said the fighter, without announcing any new actions for the project.

Recently, the work of the Poatan Institute was recognized by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). At this year's Hall of Fame ceremony, held last week, the Brazilian won the ' Forrest Griffin Community Award', given to athletes who excel in social action. As a bonus, the UFC donated US$25 (more than R$127 at the current exchange rate) to the institution.
