After being brutally knocked out by Adrian Yanez during the preliminary card of UFC 329 , many believed that the end of Cody Garbrandt 's career was near. However, at least as far as the fighter himself is concerned, it's not time yet. In a post on Instagram last Tuesday (14), the former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) spoke for the first time after the setback.
Although he didn't go into detail about the next steps in his career, the former champion chose to focus on a narrative of resilience and overcoming challenges, leading to the conclusion that retirement plans are not being considered at this time.

“There are moments in life when hope fades and the weight of endless problems makes the path uncertain. But remember this: you only lose when you choose to give up. Make your battles your fuel, not your downfall. Don't let the storm knock you down. Let it strengthen your will to get back up and keep fighting,” he stated.

Despite delivering one of the greatest performances in history by defeating Dominick Cruz at the end of 2016, Cody Garbrandt has had several negative results in his recent record. In addition to the loss against Yanez, he also suffered defeats to Deiveson Figueiredo and Raoni Barcelos . His only victory since last year came in the controversial fight against Xiao Long , in which the Chinese fighter lost two points for landing illegal strikes on No Love.
