UFC 329 was providing pure entertainment to combat sports fans, but it ended tragically. In the main event held last Saturday (11), in Las Vegas (USA), Conor McGregor suffered an injury when he threw a kick at Max Holloway with just over a minute remaining and, struggling to stand, ended up being spared by the referee and lost by technical knockout. Watching the fight closely, Dana White was shocked by what happened.
In the post- UFC 329 press conference , the organization's president, when questioned by journalists about the Irishman's future in MMA, remained cryptic. It's worth noting that McGregor hadn't fought since 2021 and, in his last fight, suffered a serious leg injury in the trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier . Exactly five years later, 'Notorious', now 37, suffered the same injury and saw many calling for his retirement.
After suffering the new injury, the UFC star confessed to being shaken, but made it clear that his fighting career is not over. It's true that Dana White indicated he wouldn't refuse to have McGregor back, but he adopted a pessimistic tone regarding his return to the octagon.

“I don’t even know what to say. You need to take some time. I don’t like talking about scheduling new fights right after events, and definitely not in this scenario. It’s the guys who start saying, ‘I’m thinking about retiring,’ and the minute you start talking or thinking about retiring, you definitely should,” said the UFC president.
“I haven’t heard that from him yet, but he hasn’t spoken publicly. We’ll see what he has to say. I don’t know. We’ll see how all this unfolds. There are many unanswered questions now that will be answered in the coming days.”
“That’s why I don’t get into that conversation and start talking about the future. I don’t know what’s going to happen. We’ll be back in the office on Tuesday, and it’s not worth talking about it now. I don’t know enough,” he concluded.
