In the traditional face-off held on Thursday (9), the Irishman took the Hawaiian's glasses and threw them on the ground , before delivering a strong slap to his hand. According to Holloway, the situation could have been avoided if he hadn't trusted his rival's posture.
In an interview during the weigh-in broadcast, Holloway revealed that he believed McGregor's attitude when they approached, but ended up being surprised by his opponent's reaction, acknowledging that he fell for the provocation.

Known as one of the biggest names in MMA, Conor McGregor hasn't stepped into the octagon since June 2021, when he suffered a shin fracture in a fight against Dustin Poirier .
