In April, Alex Poatan was announced as a member of the UFC Hall of Fame for the work he has been doing in the social field. Therefore, last Thursday (9), in Las Vegas (USA), the Brazilian was present at the ceremony to introduce new fighters to the select group of professionals of the company to receive the ' Forrest Griffin Community Award ' of 2026, which goes beyond sporting achievements.
As expected, Poatan celebrated the recognition for making a difference outside the octagon. The award itself is an initiative that values athletes who have a positive impact on society through their actions. At the ceremony, the former UFC champion gave a speech, received a trophy, a check for $25 (approximately R$129 at the current exchange rate), and concluded his participation by saying his well-known phrase, 'Chama' (Flame).

“I’m very happy to have received this award. It’s very important to have recognition for all the work I’ve been doing, and I’m glad it’s not something directly related to fighting. It’s something I did outside of it. So, that makes me even happier because I have this awareness that I’m doing good and helping many people, many children,” said the fighter in an interview with UFC Brazil, on 'X'.
“Children are the future. So, we have to give them opportunities, and that’s what I’m doing. I’m very happy about this trophy, with the $25 check, which will certainly help our Institute,” he concluded.

What is Poatan's social project?
The renowned striker's social project is the 'Instituto Poatan'. Founded by the fighter in 2025 and located in the Batistini neighborhood of São Bernardo do Campo (SP), the institute is a non-profit organization that supports underprivileged youth and aims to transform lives through culture, education, and sports, offering five courses, with a focus on martial arts, computer skills, and English.
It's worth highlighting that Poatan is constantly involved in charitable campaigns and performs acts of kindness. In January, the UFC star donated 2,6 basic food baskets to needy families in the region. His most recent donation occurred in April. While visiting Sobrália (MG), the athlete, alongside his friend and coach Glover Teixeira , distributed boxes of chocolates to children during the Easter celebrations.
