Tracy Cortes guarantees she is ready to take a step further in the flyweight division (up to 56,7 kg) at UFC 329 , scheduled for next Saturday (11). The ex-girlfriend of Alex Poatan is scheduled to face Cong Wang on the preliminary card of the event and sees the Chinese fighter as an important test towards a future title fight in the category.
In an interview with 'MMA Junkie', the fighter analyzed her opponent and acknowledged her qualities, highlighting her physical strength and high level of striking. Even so, Cortes downplayed any technical difference, stating that a high level of skill is a common characteristic among the top 10 athletes in the division. Confident, she reinforced that she fears no opponent and fully believes in her potential to reach the top of the category, including an eventual title fight.

“I think she’s strong, she has good striking. But in reality, everyone in this division, anyone in the top 10, everyone is strong, everyone has a good IQ. She’s nothing that incredible, I’m not afraid of anyone, her or anyone else in the division. I know I’m capable of being champion, I know I can get to the top 5, I know I can get to the top 3 and I know I can fight for the title. So it’s just about focusing on the work now and staying consistent,” said Tracy Cortez.
The American also highlighted her evolution as an athlete, emphasizing her own fight IQ and versatility inside the octagon. Cortes defined herself as a complete competitor and stated that she is prepared to perform well in any scenario presented during the fight.
“I am very confident in my fight IQ, I consider myself a very complete fighter. So, wherever it happens, however it is, I feel very confident in any scenario the fight may be in,” concluded the fighter.
