It's worth noting that, after announcing his retirement from MMA in 2025, Poirier admitted that he misses fighting and revealed that alcohol has become his 'friend'. “The counter employee may have noticed I was drunk and said, ‘No, you can’t board,’ and maybe that’s what triggered everything. I don’t know, but I want to apologize to those employees, whoever they are, and to the police officers for having to put up with me. I asked a lawyer if he could do me the favor of giving me that officer’s information,” said the MMA legend.

“His address, if I can write him a letter, his cell phone number, if I can call him. Just to say how great a job he did dealing with a person in that condition and how professional he was. He was amazing. It could have been much worse. I just want to thank him. I couldn't do it. Maybe I realized what was happening, had a moment like, 'What am I doing?'”

“Looking back now, with what I was told and how he handled the situation, he did a great job. I need to thank him, because it could have been much worse. And if it had been a young, hot-headed police officer who wanted to be a star, it could have been awful. I could be facing serious charges,” he concluded.
