The duel with Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329 marks more than just Conor McGregor 's return to the most famous octagon on the planet. Five years after fracturing his left leg against Dustin Poirier , the Irishman hopes to be able to compete again, especially considering that it is not the first time he has found himself in this position. In this context, the Ultimate released on Sunday (5) images of the training that injured the Notorious and prevented him from facing Michael Chandler in 2024.
The video was published in the latest edition of Countdown, produced to promote the event. In it, you can see McGregor attempting a kick to a training partner's midsection and ending up fracturing the little toe on his left foot. According to him, not being able to attend the fight was not easy at all.

“The injury happened. It was very, very difficult. It was the only time I had to withdraw from a fight while I was part of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and it was very, very hard,” he stated.
At the time, he and Chandler were set to headline UFC 303 after coaching on the 31st season of The Ultimate Fighter. In the end, Alex Poatan ended up replacing The Notorious and accepting a rematch with Jiri Prochazka , knocking out the Czech fighter with a head kick in the second round and defending his light heavyweight title (up to 93 kg).
