Georges St-Pierre was present last Thursday (2), at Portugal's 2-1 victory over Croatia, in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup. The match was held in Toronto, Canada, the home country of the UFC legend, who watched the game from the stands and cheered intensely for Cristiano Ronaldo's goal, recording the moment in a video posted on social media. The World Cup, which began in June, is being played for the first time in three countries: Canada, the United States and Mexico.

In the images, GSP is seen celebrating Portugal's equalizing goal, scored by Cristiano from a penalty kick, standing up. The former UFC welterweight (up to 77 kg) and middleweight (up to 83,9 kg) champion celebrated the historic play, the star's first goal in a World Cup knockout stage. Cristiano's relationship with combat sports is also long-standing: the Portuguese star is one of the shareholders of the WOW FC organization alongside former lightweight (up to 70,3 kg) champion Ilia Topuria.

"Watching the greatest of all time do what he does best at the World Cup," the Canadian wrote in the caption of the post on his Instagram profile.

The match was marked by strong emotions. After falling behind, Portugal reacted with Cristiano Ronaldo's equalizer and secured the victory in stoppage time with Gonçalo Ramos. The match also had several VAR interventions, including the annulment of a Croatian goal in the final moments. With the 2-1 victory, the Portuguese team secured a place in the round of 16, where they will face Spain on Monday (06).
