Boxing star denies Conor McGregor's claims and insists he would fight him for R$1 billion: 'He's making it up'

Stopped since 2021, Conor McGregor He is back in action and is already making waves in combat sports. Next Saturday (11), in Las Vegas (USA), the Irish star will headline the UFC 329 against Max HollowayBut his 'trash talk' is broad and doesn't focus solely on his opponent. So much so that 'Notorious' took a slight jab at Terence Crawford, the boxing star. And, after the provocation from the former champion, the American responded.

Recently, McGregor revealed that Turki Al-Sheikh, advisor to the Saudi Royal Court and one of the most important figures in the boxing scene today, offered him two fights against Crawford, in MMA and boxing, for $200 million (approximately R$1 billion at the current exchange rate). Not satisfied, 'Notorious' stated that the American refused the offer.

In an interview with Yahoo Sports, "Bud" Crawford denied the Irishman's claims. Out of action since September, Crawford clarified that no offer had reached his desk and admitted that, in the not-so-distant past, he would have gladly accepted a fight against McGregor for such a sum. Interestingly, "Notorious" has already stated that he is in the final stages of his UFC contract and wants to fight boxing again. In any case, the boxing star made it clear that the controversy will not make him return to the ring to face "Notorious."

“That’s a lie. It’s all talk. There was never a $200 million offer. They asked me if I would accept and I said, ‘You’re not going to fool me, Conor.’ We were on a video call and I told him that, but they didn’t say, ‘Hey, you’d make $200 million. Fight him in boxing and MMA.’ That never happened,” said the boxing star.

“If they had told me that, I could say there was an offer, but since nothing was presented to me, I can't say anything for sure. In my mind, he's making up numbers. I would have done it. Why wouldn't I? I don't need to do it now, but back then, it would have been a good deal.”

“Right now, I don’t need to do that. I’m in a different phase of my life where I don’t need to accept those struggles. Back then, I probably would have accepted. I would have thought, ‘Okay, let’s do this.’ I’m happily retired and I don’t see myself coming back. It’s truly over,” he concluded.

The American began his career in the traditional sport in 2008 and has been a champion in several weight classes and multiple organizations. In boxing, he built a perfect record of 42 wins. His main victories were over Amir Khan, Canelo Álvarez, Errol Spence Jr., and José Benavidez Jr.
