Michael Morales is not a competitor of Carlos Prates in the race for the welterweight belt (up to 77 kg), at least according to his coach, Cristian Nogueira. After knocking out Jack Della Maddalena , the Fighting Nerds smoker established himself in the title contention and appears alongside the Ecuadorian as one of the next in line, especially with Islam Makhachev already scheduled to face Ian Garry at UFC 330.

In an interview with the 'Peace Grappler' channel, Cristian Nogueira stated that Michael Morales does not have sufficient credentials to face Carlos Prates at this time, highlighting that the Ecuadorian has not faced former champions and has built his career against less prominent opponents within the division.

"There's no way this fight can happen. First, because Morales hasn't faced any former champions, he's only fought the guys from the back of the pack. He hasn't done much to deserve this fight with Carlos," said Cristina Nogueira.

The coach also downplayed the technical qualities of his potential opponent, pointing out that he had never seen Morales use his wrestling effectively. In Cris's view, if the fight were to happen, Carlos Prates would have a clear advantage and would overcome his opponent without much difficulty.

"Honestly, I've never seen Morales use his wrestling skills, and he wouldn't even put up a fight with Carlos. Carlos would simply walk all over him," the coach concluded.
