June has been a very difficult month for Alex Poatan , who has been involved in several controversies in his career. After being brutally knocked out by Ciryl Gane at UFC Casa Branca in Washington (USA), the Brazilian lashed out at referee Herb Dean, called for his dismissal, and reacted poorly to criticism from YouTuber Igor Serafini. Upon learning of the athlete's stance against the commentator, veteran Marcelo Brigadeiro intervened and disapproved of it.
It all started when the YouTuber disagreed with Poatan's view of the tough loss to the Frenchman. After reviewing the fight, the former UFC champion insisted he was fine, explained that he only lost because he received a 'lucky punch', a series of illegal attacks to the back of the head, and blamed the referee for the defeat.

Not satisfied, the athlete fired the following phrases at the commentator, 'You sit in that chair talking shit, waiting for me to respond like now, so you can make a video of my response to get engagement' and 'My biggest concern right now is how I'm going to protect the money I earned just from this fight', in a clear attempt to humiliate him. Brigadeiro then responded.
On his YouTube channel 'OSS', the former fighter and current coach and manager expressed surprise at Poatan's stance and criticized him harshly. According to Brigadeiro, the athlete, who never hid his past struggles, completely transformed after reaching the top in the UFC and experiencing fame. Therefore, the experienced professional advised the striker to keep his feet on the ground and handle criticism better, as it is part of the sport.
"It's messed up, isn't it, man? You see a guy who used to be incredibly successful, who didn't have anything to eat, throwing a big tantrum like that at a kid who's just doing his job. I think it's disgusting. I always think it's disgusting when an athlete gets angry at criticism. I think it's incredibly disgusting. I think it's very disgusting. That's one of the factors that leads to a complete distortion of the world MMA scene, because then most media outlets are afraid to complain about those guys," said the professional.
"But, like, Poatan is losing his way, right? He's losing his way. The guy who was starving until recently is now pulling a stunt like that. Be careful, because life isn't usually very kind to those who are cowards. When you're on top, you have to remember when you were at the bottom. I thought Poatan's attitude was incredibly disgusting. His words were incredibly disgusting. And it also makes it clear that he's ignorant, that if someone doesn't know how to protect their money, a quick Google search will help."
"So, he's still acting like a fool, you know? I thought it was disgusting. It's very easy to be humble when you're a big shot and have nothing. It's difficult to be humble when you have a lot. Money and power reveal who people really are. So, this shows a side of Poatan that I find very disgusting. I wouldn't want him to be like that, and I think he shouldn't be like that, because the guy knows the other side of the story well, he already knows what it was like, what it's like to be a big shot. He should be more humble," he concluded.
