Brutally knocked out by Ciryl Gane at UFC White House in June in Washington (USA), Alex Poatan is committed to campaigning against referee Herb Dean. However, while many MMA fans and professionals support the Brazilian in his cause, the same cannot be said of Dana White.
Last Saturday (27), the striker once again criticized the referee for his performance in Michel Pereira 's defeat to Shara Magomedov at UFC Baku and called him a coward. In addition to Poatan, the Flying Paraense also complained and blamed Herb for the result. As the professional did not punish the Russian for the repeated fouls in the fight, the discussion about the alleged errors of the same came back to the surface.

It's worth remembering that Poatan, after receiving blows to the back of the head from the Frenchman, stated that Herb would never referee his fights again and requested his dismissal. Dana, however, ignored the pressure from the Brazilian and ruled out punishing the referee. Furthermore, this wasn't the first time the UFC president downplayed the controversy involving the fighter and the referee, especially since he doesn't have the power to cut him.
“I don’t know the answer to that question, but that doesn’t depend on me . That’s up to the Commission. No, but I heard about that (Poatan’s petition against Herb). There’s no MMA in my algorithm, unless she (the advisor) tells me. I don’t know ,” said the UFC president at the Zuffa Boxing post-event press conference, held last Sunday (28).
Alex Poatan and Michel Pereira against Herb Dean
Upon reviewing the fight against Gane, Poatan asserted that he was fine and explained that he only lost because he received a 'lucky punch' and a series of illegal attacks to the back of the head. Feeling wronged, the Brazilian disapproved of 'Bon Gamin's' conduct, harshly criticized Herb, and called for him to be fired.
Michel blamed the referee for the defeat and criticized him for not punishing Shara for the repeated infractions. In the first round, the Russian was warned more than once by Herb for grabbing the Flying Paraense's hair. During the break, the referee spoke with the athlete and explained the rules. After the warnings, the bad boy unintentionally poked his opponent in the eye in the third round and only received another warning.
