Therefore, a rumor surfaced suggesting that the Brazilian would appeal the loss in an attempt to overturn it into a 'no contest'. Now, Poatan has clarified the situation, reiterating that he has two objectives: a rematch against Gane and exemplary punishment for Herb Dean.

“It’s the referee’s mistake, you understand? And nobody’s calling him out. I’m here, it’s over, I don’t want to change the result. I just think I have to warn people about what’s happening, right? I think I have a voice to do that, you understand? Before something like what happened in boxing happens again, with a guy who took a punch to the back of the head and suffered lasting consequences,” said the former UFC champion.

“I lost the fight, but I can recover, you understand? I’m only here to avoid a tragedy. I’m not here for the result. The fight is over, I lost the fight, you understand? I can have another opportunity, just like I always have, I can recover, come back better. It doesn’t make sense to me. He’s there, if he feels like the champion, okay, but I want my rematch,” he concluded.
