John Lineker's time in ONE Championship ended controversially. In March, in Thailand, the Brazilian faced Ben Woolliss, was knocked out in the first round, and didn't just lose in the cage. The former bantamweight champion (up to 65,8 kg) failed a drug test and, as a consequence, was suspended for one year and cut from the Asian league. The information was released by the 'Bangkok Post' newspaper.
According to the report, Lineker tested positive for the banned substances 'tamoxifen', a selective estrogen receptor modulator, and 'methandienone', a synthetic anabolic androgenic steroid derived from testosterone and known for its rapid muscle mass and strength gains. Since the test was conducted the day after his kickboxing fight and the results were released in April, the Brazilian would only be eligible to compete again in April 2027. However, other companies are not obligated to respect the punishments imposed by ONE.
