Mica Galvão spoke out about the recent controversies involving his father, Melqui Galvão. This Tuesday (28), the leader of the BJJ College team surprised the jiu-jitsu community by being arrested under accusations of sexual crimes against minors, a situation that, according to the athlete, cannot be ignored.

In a post on Instagram, the multi-champion addressed the case and divided his stance between the personal side and public responsibility. Mica highlighted the importance of his father in his career, emphasizing that it was Melqui who introduced him to the sport in his childhood and played a fundamental role in his development both on and off the mats.

“It’s difficult to find words for a moment like this. My father, Melqui Galvão, was the one who put me on the mat for the first time when I was a child. He taught me how to fight, how to compete, how to respect my opponent, and how to have character. Everything I have achieved in life has his hand in it. My gratitude and love for him are real and will not change,” wrote Mica Galvão.

At the same time, Mica pointed out that it is necessary for the accusations to be investigated seriously, arguing that the Justice system must fulfill its role. The athlete also reinforced his condemnation of any form of harassment or violence against women and children, classifying this stance as a non-negotiable value.

“At the same time, I feel obligated to be honest: that the facts be investigated seriously and that Justice fulfills its role. As a person, I repudiate any form of harassment or violence against women and children; this is a value I hold dear and that makes no exceptions,” continued the multi-time Jiu-Jitsu champion.

Finally, the young man admitted that he still doesn't have all the answers about the case and that he is dealing with the situation as a son, an athlete, and a human being. Despite the circumstances, he assured that he will remain focused on his responsibilities to the team and to the people who trust in his work, maintaining his usual respect and dedication.

“I don’t have all the answers right now. I’m processing this as a son, as an athlete, and as a human being. What I do know is that I have responsibilities to the people who believe in me, to the team that represents so much for so many athletes. And it is to them that I direct my energy now. I move forward, with the same respect and dedication as always,” concluded Mica Galvão.

Melqui Galvão, a renowned Jiu-Jitsu coach and father of Mica Galvão, was arrested on suspicion of sexual crimes against minors, according to the website 'BNC Amazonas'. According to the publication, Melquisedeque de Lima Galvão Ferreira, 47, turned himself in to authorities after a São Paulo court issued a 30-day temporary arrest warrant; he is being investigated for threats, rape of a vulnerable person, sexual harassment, and unauthorized access to electronic devices, in cases that allegedly went beyond the relationship between coach and students.

So far, the defense has not commented, while part of the community laments what happened and expresses support for the possible victims; the case remains under investigation and there has been no conviction yet.
