A leading UFC commentator for almost three decades and one of the most well-known names in all of MMA, Joe Rogan has featured numerous personalities from the sport on 'The Joe Rogan Experience', the world's leading podcast. The reason for this was legal. Velazquez, who is facing charges for attempted murder, was reportedly not released by the judge to participate in the podcast. Despite this, Rogan made it clear that the offer still stands.

“We were trying to get him on the podcast before he was arrested, but the judge wouldn’t allow it. I would definitely invite him now. I love Cain. He’s in my top—I don’t think there’s a true GOAT in the heavyweight division, because there have been times when one guy would have beaten everyone else. He’s there, he’s in the GOAT category,” Joe stated in a conversation with Actio Bronson.

The former heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) was arrested in February 2022 after chasing and shooting at another vehicle on a highway in Santa Clara County, California. Two men were in the car; one of them had been convicted of sexually abusing the former fighter's son, who had been released on parole. A shot fired by Velasquez hit the other occupant, a relative of the convicted man, who survived.
