Until a few weeks ago, Holly holm was best known in Ultimate for being a renowned former boxer and training partner of Jon Jones. Now, after UFC 193, the blonde is responsible for dethroning Ronda Rousey and became the organization's newest bantamweight champion. Holm's achievement filled Jones, the biggest name in “Jackson's MMA”, with pride and caused the former champion to release a very affectionate message to his friend.

"In my opinion, Holly holm is already the best of all time in women's combat sports. She was considered the greatest boxer to ever compete in boxing and now she has defeated the greatest MMA fighter to date. Her accomplishments are absolutely unknown, but that's not what makes me such a big fan of Holly. It's the way she carries herself outside of the spotlight and the arena. I know the MMA community doesn't know Holly well yet, so let me be the first to tell you. She is the most classy and humble athlete I have ever had the pleasure of being around. She has been the pride of Albuquerque, New Mexico for a long time and not only because of the way she competes, but because of the way she treats every individual who has the opportunity to meet her. This, in fact, can be a problem sometimes, a small trip to buy milk at the grocery store can take 45 minutes and she doesn't mind it (laughs). If you're impressed by Holly's talent, wait until you understand what kind of character she has, it's truly something out of the ordinary. She is a role model you would love to have your daughters look up to. I have so much to learn from her. I feel honored to call her a teammate and, most importantly, a friend. Congratulations again, champion, and keep rocking your life!”, wrote “Bones”, on her profile on Instagram.

At 28, Jon Jones has a record of 21 wins and only one loss, by disqualification. The former light heavyweight champion was removed from his post in May this year, after being involved in yet another major controversy, in which he caused a traffic accident and fled without providing assistance to the victim. Jones, however, was released from the charges and has been reinstated to the Ultimate squad. Despite this, however, there is no official date for “Bones”’ return to the octagon, which, it is speculated, should happen with a rematch against Daniel Cormier, current holder of the 93 kg division title.
