Renato Moicano had a special reason not to get carried away in celebrating his victory at UFC Vegas 115, held this Saturday (4). The Brazilian faced Chris Duncan in the main event and, after hurting his rival in the striking, secured the victory by submission in the second round. Despite ending his bad streak, the Brasilia native drew attention by avoiding any louder celebration.
In an interview with UFC Brazil, Moicano explained that his stance was not related to facing a training partner, as many fans initially imagined. According to the fighter, the decision was motivated by the Holy Week period, which left him quite emotional throughout the days, reflecting on important dates in the Christian calendar.
“No. This week was very difficult. (Because of) Easter, right? I was very emotional all week, thinking about it since I arrived here on Sunday. I thought about Palm Sunday, Holy Monday, Tuesday, Good Friday, Saturday, and Easter. I was very emotional about it,” said Renato Moicano.
Moicano also highlighted that he opted for a more restrained attitude as a sign of respect and faith. According to the Brazilian, in addition to making requests, it is also important to give back, help others, and express devotion. Therefore, he avoided excessive celebrations and preferred to treat the moment as a tribute to Jesus, especially because of the meaning of Easter.
“We just ask, ask, ask, ask… I’m a sinner, I just ask. We also have to give, we have to help, we have to talk (about God). So I didn’t want to make a fuss, I just wanted to pay this tribute to Jesus, especially at Easter,” concluded the Brazilian.

With his victory over Chris Duncan , Renato Moicano ended the worst losing streak of his career. The Brazilian had suffered two consecutive defeats, one by submission to Islam Makhachev and the other by judges' decision against Beneil Dariush.
