Considered one of the great promises of Brazilian MMA in the UFC, the Espírito Santo Erick silva has alternated ups and downs in recent years, and found it difficult to put together a winning streak in the octagon. The moment of instability made Erick rethink his career and the Brazilian left for the United States, where he will do an exchange training in New York and California, with names like the Brazilian champions Rafael dos Anjos e Fabricio Werdum.

“I’ve been talking to Renzo Gracie for a long time. He invited me to visit, I took advantage of the fact that I was going to be away for a while and came to train jiu-jitsu here with Renzo. I’ve been here for three weeks and I’ll stay another week.(…) It’s funny training Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the USA, but it’s been very productive”, said Erick, in an interview with the podcast “The MMA Hour”. “I'm going to California and I'm going to stay until the end of the year with Rafael Cordeiro, where I intend to do some technical development. I intend to stay in New York as well, but when I get to California I intend to stay until the end of the year and finish my recovery. Next year I want to spend more time in the USA training at Kings MMA and here in New York too”, he added.
