Alex Poatan is not the only Brazilian who will be in action and in the spotlight at UFC Casa Branca . In the historic and unique event, scheduled to take place on June 14th in Washington (USA), Mauricio Ruffy, on the rise in the company, will face Michael Chandler in an important fight valid for the lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). Thus, the athlete justified the comparison with Conor McGregor for an unusual reason. The company itself announced the duel this Saturday (7), during the broadcast of UFC 326.
Because he specializes in striking and has a fluid fighting style based on movement, precision, and technique, Ruffy has been classified by many as a kind of new version of the Irishman. In fact, 'Notorious', out of action since 2021, expressed a desire to return to competition at UFC White House and had the American as one of his possible opponents, but ended up not participating in the event. Therefore, the new McGregor has replaced the original version and will face Chandler.

In his last fight, held in February, Ruffy recovered from his first UFC loss by knocking out Rafael Fiziev in the second round. Excited by the impressive performance, the Brazilian asked to fight at the White House and subsequently secured a spot in the highly competitive event.

Mauricio Ruffy , 29, is part of the UFC's lightweight elite. Discovered on the Contender Series reality show in 2023, the Brazilian debuted in the world's largest MMA organization a year later, winning four fights, three by knockout, and losing one. Currently, he is ranked ninth in the division. His main victories were against Bobby Green and Rafael Fiziev.
