Damian Pinas arrived with a bang in the world's biggest MMA organization. UFC Mexico, event held this Saturday (28), Dedé Pederneiras' pupil at the Nova União academy impressed and gave Wes Schultz no chance. The athlete needed only one round to punish and knock out the American.
With a perfect debut, 23-year-old Pinas confirms the hype and shows that he is a promising fighter in the UFC middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg). Now, the representative of Aruba in MMA has reached his ninth career victory, all by stoppage (eight by knockout and one by submission), and has only one defeat.

Pinas started by hunting down Schultz and landing powerful low kicks. Calmly, Pinas scored a knockdown with a straight punch to Schultz's face. Recovering, Schultz clung to Pinas and attempted a takedown, but ended up on the bottom.
On top, Pinas applied a powerful ground and pound and attempted a choke, but failed to secure the submission. Then, Pinas scored a second knockdown with an uppercut on Schultz. Not satisfied, Pinas knocked his opponent down with another straight punch, forcing the referee to stop the fight.
