Israel Adesanya is ready to "trade bombs" in the main event of UFC Seattle , scheduled for March 28th. The Nigerian faces Joe Pyfer and insists he is not intimidated by rumors that his rival does not use hand wraps in training to increase the power of his strikes in the octagon.
In an interview with Crown TV, Israel Adesanya downplayed his opponent's strategy and stated that he also usually trains without hand wraps during activities like mitt work and sparring, demonstrating confidence in a potentially open exchange of blows during the fight.

“I heard he doesn’t wrap his hands because he likes to drop bombs. I accept that. I don’t wrap my hands when I’m doing mitt work, when I’m sparring. I don’t wrap my hands either,” said Israel Adesanya.
Israel Adesanya missed a golden opportunity in the UFC.
After three consecutive losses, Israel Adesanya missed a crucial opportunity to regain prominence in the middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg). The former champion was approached by the organization to replace Anthony Hernandez and face Reinier de Ridder in the main event of UFC Vancouver , which took place in October 2025. However, an injury sustained during training prevented him from stepping into the octagon and seizing the chance to get closer to the top of the division.
“I was going to fight last year, but I got injured at the gym. That opportunity was taken from me. It would also have been a fight on short notice, and I’ve never done one of those, so it would have been exciting,” Adesanya said in a video posted on his official YouTube channel.
