When José Aldo announced that he would be out of UFC 189 due to a rib injury, Conor McGregor made several criticisms of the Brazilian, as he stated that he himself was overcoming injuries to fight in the event. At the time, the Irishman did not give details of his situation, but he recently said that he suffered with his knee before the July fight.

On that occasion, McGregor defeated Chad Mendes by technical knockout in the second round, winning the interim featherweight belt. “I tore 80% of my anterior cruciate ligament 14 weeks before the fight. I could barely walk, I could barely kick. I gained a lot of experience from this injury. I was aware of my body, my balance. I had a good team around me. So once again, I had a lot of adversity to overcome. But honestly, I beat Chad with one leg. After going through this, I feel like I gained three legs”, declared McGregor, in a question and answer session with fans in Dublin, Ireland, reproduced by the “MMA Fighting” website.
McGregor and Aldo will hold the long-awaited fight on December 12th, in the city of Las Vegas (USA). The fight, which will unify the UFC's under-66 kg division titles, will be the highlight of UFC 194.
