In the first duel between them, at UFC-104, Lyoto won the judges' decision after five closely contested rounds, which caused disagreement from Shogun's team as well as a large part of the specialized press. Machida took the opportunity to point out that if the fight reaches a decision, what should be analyzed is only the second fight as it took place.

“What I feel is that it should be fair. I don't believe the challenger has to come and actually take the champion's belt. I think it should be judged as it is, just the second fight”, says Lyoto

the duel between Lyoto Machida e Mauricio Shogun will be the main attraction of UFC-113, an event that takes place on May 8, in Canada.
