Almost ten years after sharing the octagon with Jon Jones for the last time, Daniel Cormier is still questioned about the experience of rivaling one of the best MMA fighters of all time. Despite never having harbored friendly feelings for Bones, the former light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) and heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) champion does not deny his rival's talent.

During an appearance on the 'Nightcap' podcast last Wednesday (4), the former fighter demystified his feelings towards Jones, and made it clear that he greatly respects the skills of his former rival.
“People like to say that I’m jealous of Jon Jones because he beat me. I was in such good shape when he beat me the second time that, if he beat me back then, I don’t think anyone could have beaten him,” he stated.

When discussing Bones' technical skills, DC also highlighted scenarios in which their fights could be more intense, based on the rival's own opinion.
“We were talking about boxing, and he said that if we boxed, it would be a much more difficult fight. He insists: 'Because I kick and knee a lot on Daniel.' I don't think in terms of skill… maybe Khabib would be as good. Conor McGregor was very good when he wasn't messing up,” Cormier concluded.
