UFC CEO and one of the most recognized figures in the history of MMA, Dana White doesn't always make decisions that are pleasing to the media or even to other fighters. In this context, Henry Cejudo publicly gave his opinions regarding the direction of the bantamweight division (up to 61,2 kg), which was once dominated by Triple C. According to the former fighter, it would be a mistake for the bald UFC president and matchmakers to give Sean O'Malley another title shot, after he defeated Song Yadong in the co-main event of UFC 324.

During the latest edition of the 'Pound 4 Pound' podcast, Cejudo expressed great annoyance at the possibility of Sean O'Malley being chosen to face Petr Yan for the bantamweight title (up to 61,2 kg). According to the former fighter, his performance against Song Yadong wasn't enough to solidify Suga as the number one contender.
“You can’t just sit around and think that if you wait, you’ll surpass Umar Nurmagomedov or Cory Sandhagen and think, ‘Oh yeah, I’m next.’ Man, that’s not how it works. And if the UFC does that, I’ll stop watching the sport. It would be ridiculous,” he stated.

According to Triplo C, O'Malley's stance indicates a misguided perception of reality. Even with his popularity, the American star's star power wouldn't be enough to earn him a title shot without another outstanding performance.
“It’s almost as if Sean is a little delusional. He still thinks he’s a bit like Conor, who wants to wait. Merab really deserves it, for what he’s accomplished. ‘I’ll wait and then I’ll get the winner,’ I say, man, it doesn’t work like that,” he concluded.
