With so many problems plaguing the UFC Fight Night Dublin card, the weigh-in for the event took place this Friday (23) without many expectations. But a huge disturbance caused by the athletes in the co-main fight of the night, Norman Parke and Reza Madadi, set the event on fire and stole the show as the athletes passed the scale.
The atmosphere began to heat up when Reza Madadi stepped off the scale shortly after weighing 70,7 kg. The Swede, who returns to the UFC after serving 14 months in prison, remained next to president Dana White shouting and trying to intimidate Norman Parke, who weighed in shortly afterwards and weighed in at the same 70,7 kg.
The fight between the rivals, however, started with Parke, who, after rehydrating, ran towards Madadi and simply threw his backpack towards his opponent. (WATCH BELOW). The Swede obviously reacted by attacking Norman and confusion ensued. With great difficulty, President Dana White and other UFC officials managed to contain the fighters, but they still left the stage exchanging threats, and with the promise of a hot fight this Saturday (24).
Brazil has a legitimate and “adopted” representative
The only Tupiniquim representative on the card, Ericka Almeida was the first to step up to the scales in her confrontation. Despite facing the home athlete, Aisling Daly, however, the Brazilian was not booed and even ended up drawing gasps from the audience. The two made weight without difficulty and confirmed the only women's fight of the event with a tense look.
If Brazil only had one legitimate representative, the Englishman Darren till made a point of increasing the count, at least in the number of “honorary citizens”. Based in Brazilian lands, where he trains in the state of Santa Catarina, Till made weight with the help of a towel and confirmed the duel against the Dane Nicholas Dalby.
Main fight also has a hot outlook
But if the tense looks were the highlight of the official UFC Fight Night 76 weigh-in, the protagonists of the night's main fight couldn't be anything less and also heated up the atmosphere when they came face to face. After making weight, flyweights Paddy Holohan and Louis Smolka they even glued their faces together, amidst a strong demonstration from the inflamed Irish fans.
