The partnership between Jon Jones, the best MMA fighter in history, and Gable Stevenson, a wrestling legend who won the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics (JAP) in 2020, are shaking up combat sports. And, last Monday (19), fans and experts were able to see what happens when the pair get together to train.
In videos shared by the fighters on their official Instagram profiles, the activity was complete and, as expected, of a high level. Gable's mentor in MMA, Jones worked to improve his striking and offered advice. In the wrestling portion, the UFC star had fun with the Olympic champion. Despite not having Steveson's experience, 'Bones' took his back and took him down.

Standing, the wrestler tried to take Jon down, but was unsuccessful. After defending himself, the former UFC champion took advantage of his pupil's carelessness and executed another takedown. Upon hitting the ground, Gable quickly reversed the position, ending up on top of the veteran. At the end of the session, the friends laughed. Delighted with the MMA prospect's progress, Jones already envisioned him in the organization and made a bold prediction.
“Great weekend with Gable. He’s evolving extraordinarily fast. Teaching is a martial art in itself and I’m still learning. It won’t be long before we’re there with the new heavyweight champion,” wrote the MMA legend.
