This Saturday (24), the Paramount era will finally begin at UFC. And, for Jon Anik, the official commentator for the world's largest MMA organization, the project could very well present significant changes in several areas. Keeping an eye on the reactions of fans and other sports professionals, the veteran wants to deliver the best possible product.

Therefore, to ensure a complete and enjoyable experience for fight fans, Anik has no doubt that the UFC's already established model can be improved. In fact, in an interview with the 'Spinnin Backfist MMA Show' channel, the commentator was candid and revealed what bothers him about the organization. Furthermore, the veteran, full of ideas, proposed solutions, one of which was, in a way, shocking: mass layoffs.

“I think our biggest challenge is the fact that our events are too long. We should have 10 or 11 fights instead of 15. Even if the broadcast lasted five or six hours instead of eight, I wouldn't mind. But we demand too much from our fans: eight hours, 41 Saturdays. The UFC has a roster of over 600 fighters, 50 fighters signed via the Contender Series every year, which I think isn't ideal. I would cut 150 fighters from the roster, make it 10 fights, and make this sporting event much more digestible and palatable,” said the commentator.

“Maybe it’s selfish, because I’m a commentator who doesn’t understand how we do Super Bowls every time we turn on the microphone. My job is intense, but I think if it were five hours instead of eight, I would dedicate myself more to the entertainment side. I’m excited to see what this deal with Paramount will bring. I imagine that, structurally, most of the program will remain the same, but, if it were up to me, I would like to do everything live whenever possible,” he concluded.
