Marcus Buchecha continues his journey of evolution in his quest for his first UFC victory. The heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg), a multi-time jiu-jitsu champion black belt, arrived in the organization surrounded by expectation, but has yet to live up to it in the octagon, accumulating one loss and one draw in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Despite the unfavorable results, the Brazilian remains focused on developing all areas of his game.

In a video posted on coach Luiz Rico Fialho's Instagram, Buchecha appears in a mitt training session. In the images, the jiu-jitsu specialist works on boxing sequences, combining strikes with dodges and movement, highlighting his effort to improve his striking.

Marcus Buchecha denies giving up his career amidst a rough patch in the UFC.

Marcus Buchecha experienced another frustrating night at UFC Vegas 112. The jiu-jitsu black belt faced Kennedy Nzechukwu in the Octagon and, even with his opponent losing a point during the fight, the duel ended in a draw. Still without a win in the biggest MMA event in the world, the Brazilian made it clear that he has no intention of giving up his career.

In a statement on social media, Buchecha highlighted that he had undergone the best preparation since starting in MMA, but admitted that mistakes made during the fight were decisive in preventing victory. Even so, he reinforced that he will follow the same path he adopted at the beginning of his jiu-jitsu career: returning to the academy, correcting mistakes, and continuing to work towards improvement.

“Unfortunately, it wasn’t the result I wanted, but it’s part of the sport; the fight ended in a draw! I had a very good camp, in fact, I had the best preparation since I started in the sport, but unfortunately, I still made some mistakes in the fight that cost me the victory… I have two options now: give up or go back to the gym and keep working. In Jiu-Jitsu, I lost a lot at the beginning of my career, and that didn’t make me give up; now it won’t be any different,” wrote Marcus Buchecha.
