Jafel Filho and his family experienced a terrifying scene on the night of last Wednesday (14). The 'Pastor' reported that the incident occurred near the busy Avenida Brasil, in Rio de Janeiro, while they were returning from a church commitment in Santa Cruz (RJ).
In a post on his Instagram feed, the UFC flyweight (56,7kg) fighter reassured fans, explaining that a vehicle blocked his path and then three armed men got out of the car and ran towards him.
"Yesterday, around 23 pm, Jesus protected us from the hands of evil. We were returning from an event at the church in Santa Cruz (Rio de Janeiro) and were driving along Avenida Brasil when I noticed a car speeding along following us. At first, I thought it was just someone trying to overtake, so I remained calm and continued on."
When we reached the bottom of an overpass, I gave way, but the car swerved in front of us, blocking us in, and three bandits got out with guns and hoods over their faces, running towards us. I managed to stop a good distance away on the slope. At that moment, the danger became clear. My only thought was to protect Isaac and Alline. I yelled for them to duck down in the car while I tried to get out of there.
"I reversed and managed to drive off to escape. My wife's car was right behind us, with a friend who was with us, and in the middle of the escape we collided with each other, but God delivered us and we managed to get out, even going against the traffic, and escape. Jesus thwarted the enemy's plans against our lives. We are alive because He protected us," said Jafel.
