Alex Poatan 's name continues to circulate strongly behind the scenes of the UFC, now increasingly linked to the heavyweight division (up to 120,2 kg). For Michael Bisping , Hall of Famer and former champion of the organization, the scenario could unfold faster than expected, involving an interim title fight between the Brazilian and Ciryl Gane.
The projection comes amidst the uncertain situation of Tom Aspinall . The current undisputed heavyweight champion, the Englishman recently underwent eye surgery and is expected to be out of the octagon indefinitely. Given this, Bisping raised the possibility of the UFC opting to keep the division active with an interim title.
In a video posted on his YouTube channel, the Briton explained his reasoning. For Bisping, the most logical matchup would be between Cyril Gane and the Native American, not only because of their ranking position, but also because of their style.
"If Tom really needs surgery, he'll be out for a few months. The UFC will have to do something. I wouldn't be surprised if they announced a fight for the interim belt, however strange that may seem."
Ciryl Gane is an exceptional kickboxer. In terms of style, it's an excellent matchup for Poatan. Speed, movement, precision… it's a fight that makes sense technically and also as a spectacle,” he analyzed.
