Daniel Cormier claims to have put his troubled history with Jon Jones behind him , but doesn't rule out a rematch with his former rival. The protagonists of one of the greatest rivalries in UFC history, the former champions faced each other twice in the octagon and are once again sharing the spotlight after being announced as coaches on the ALF Global reality show. Despite his talk of reconciliation, the American made it clear that he would accept a rematch, provided it was under specific conditions.
In a statement to Red Corner MMA, Daniel Cormier expressed openness to facing Jon Jones outside of MMA. The former champion highlighted that he would accept a wrestling match, freestyle style, with short rounds, stating that the fight would not last long and that he would have complete control over his rival.

“Wrestling? Yes, I wrestle with Jon Jones . You can schedule a wrestling match between me and Jon Jones . Whoever wants to pay for it, just let me know. We'll wrestle, me and Jon Jones . Freestyle wrestling, me and Jon Jones , two- to three-minute rounds. It won't take long. It would be a walk in the park,” said Daniel Cormier.
Still, Cormier emphasized that his current relationship with Jones is different from the past. According to him, the end of his professional fighting career helped reduce tension between them, allowing for a more professional relationship. Although he admits that disagreements still exist, the veteran assures that today the two can share the same environment without the rivalry escalating into a physical confrontation.
“Being around Jon Jones is different because we had a very bad history, but the reality is that I don’t fight anymore, and that part is in the past. So it’s not nearly as hostile, but I think we did a good job being as professional as possible. Obviously, we argued a lot, but that’s the status of our relationship. I think we’ve reached a point in life where we can be in the same environment without trying to fight each other,” concluded the former UFC champion.
