During a recent visit to the Lagoinha Church training center in São Paulo, Ruffy explained that a betting company approached him and offered him a multi-million dollar deal to promote their brand and games. However, the Brazilian fighter would not be allowed to express his faith in the octagon, as he usually does.

For many professionals, the specific offer might seem tempting, but not for the representative of the 'Fighting Nerds' academy. True to his principles, Luffy made it clear that he refused the offer and remained convinced that he did the right thing, despite the high amount.

“I received a multi-million dollar offer, I'm talking millions, to partner with a betting company. In my second-to-last fight, I received a 48 million reais offer not to talk about Jesus in the octagon. Anything that goes against God, I say no to. And the only one who benefits from this is me, because the Lord brings me peace. Walking with Jesus means denying your own desires. It seems like denying your desires is bad, but it's not. Soon, you'll discover that it's the best thing you can do for yourself,” said the fighter.
