Anderson Silva made it clear that he still has a score to settle with his biggest rival in his career. After dominating Tyron Woodley and knocking out the former UFC welterweight champion (up to 77 kg) in the second round, the "Spider" has already pointed to his next target and revealed his desire for a rematch against Chris Weidman.

Still in the ring, right after the victory, Anderson Silva donned his Spider-Man costume and sent a direct message to the American. The Brazilian stated that Weidman is the true antagonist of his MMA career and declared that he awaits a rematch to finally settle the score between them.
"My 'Venom' is Chris Weidman ... I'm waiting for you, Chris," said Anderson Silva in an interview with Ariel Helwani.

After years of reigning in the UFC's middleweight division (up to 83,9 kg), Anderson Silva was paired with Chris Weidman for a fight that seemed like a mere formality for the Brazilian. However, the American managed a knockout that ended the Spider's undefeated streak of 16 wins in the UFC.
In the immediate rematch at UFC 168, Weidman won again, this time after Anderson Silva fractured his shin while kicking, and the blow was blocked by the American.
Before being confirmed to face Tyron Woodley , Anderson Silva had a new fight scheduled against Chris Weidman , with whom he would complete his trilogy. However, the American suffered an injury and ended up being removed from the fight, opening up space for the change of opponent.
