Gerônimo Mondragon disappeared this Saturday (13). Former UFC fighter, the 45-year-old heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) disappeared after diving into a beach on the Rio Negro, in the region of the municipality. According to local information, Gerônimo was with his girlfriend when he went for a swim in the river.
The whereabouts of Gerônimo Mondragon are still unknown. According to information published on the website 'O Liberal', the heavyweight fighter entered the water but did not return. Local authorities are continuing to investigate the case.

Among the local authorities, rescue teams were activated to locate Gerônimo Mondragon. Besides being a well-known fighter in the Brazilian MMA scene, Gerônimo is the Undersecretary of Public Security for São Gabriel da Cachoeira, in Amazonas.
Due to the disappearance of Gerônimo Mondragon, the City Hall of São Gabriel da Cachoeira published a note on its official Instagram profile, transferring an event of the Christmas festivities in the region in respect for what happened this Saturday (13).

Who is Gerônimo Mondragon?
Gerônimo Mondragon is known in the combat sports community for his stints in major organizations throughout his career. Gerônimo has competed in the Premier Fight League (PFL), Revelation FC, Rizin, Jungle Fight, Among others.
Geronimo Mondragon signed a contract with the UFC in 2012. However, his debut was canceled after a blood test revealed he had hepatitis B. Because of this, Mondragon was released from his contract and never had the opportunity to fight for the company.
In his most recent appearance in the world of fighting, Geronimo Mondragon defeated Russian Aleksei Oleinik via knockout in the first round of bare-knuckle boxing in April 2025.
