Justin Gaethje learned from Charles Oliveira . The American spoke in an interview about what he learned from the Brazilian and how he has been preparing to fight Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324 in January 2026 in Las Vegas (USA).
In an interview with the Australian website 'Submission Radio', Justin Gaethje revealed that since his first-round submission loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 274 in May 2022, the American has been training intensely in Jiu-Jitsu. Gaethje believes this effort could lead to a surprise victory and ultimately result in him submitting Paddy Pimblett at UFC 324.
“Since the fight with Charles Oliveira (from the Bronx), I’ve been training a lot, a lot of jiu-jitsu. Maybe I can submit him ( Paddy Pimblett ). But the chances are one in a million,” Justin Gaethje said in an interview with Submission Radio.

Justin Gaethje has a professional record of 26 wins and five losses in MMA. The 37-year-old fighter is currently ranked fourth in the UFC lightweight division (up to 70,3 kg). Gaethje has been with the company since July 2017, when he debuted with a technical knockout victory over Michael Johnson in the second round of 'UFC – The Ultimate Fighter 25 Finale'.
Justin Gaethje has amassed 14 fights in the UFC, with nine wins and five losses. Throughout his time with the company, the American has been the interim lightweight champion and the holder of the 'BMF' belt.
Justin Gaethje won the interim lightweight title by knocking out Tony Ferguson in the fifth round of UFC 249 in May 2020. Subsequently, in his quest to unify the title, Gaethje lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov via submission in the second round of UFC 254 in October of the same year.
In the case of the 'BMF' belt, the American won it against Dustin Poirier by knockout in the second round of UFC 291 in July 2023. However, shortly afterwards, Gaethje lost the title to Max Holloway after suffering a knockout in the fifth round of UFC 300 in April 2024.
