Khamzat Chimaev has shown a willingness to face Sean Strickland for the Ultimate Fighting Championship belt. After dominating Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 319, 'The Wolf' became the middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) and began observing a line of potential challengers. Among them is the outspoken American, who, in the Chechen's view, still needs a few more wins to justify a title shot.
In an interview with 'ESPN MMA', Chimaev assessed that Strickland is coming off a loss to an opponent he himself defeated convincingly over five rounds, indicating that his rival needs to secure another victory before even thinking about the title.

"He lost to a guy I destroyed for five rounds, man. He needs to win a fight," said Chimaev.
Although he doesn't agree that Sean Strickland is next in line, Khamzat Chimaev stated that if the UFC chooses to promote the fight immediately, he will accept without question, reinforcing that the organization decides the course of the event.
"But if they give it to him after that, who cares? The UFC is what makes the show," concluded the Chechen Wolf.
