The Brazilian veteran got annoyed recently with a series of provocations from the Chechen involving Alex Poatán and even threatened the middleweight champion (up to 83,9kg). Now, the challenger has publicly responded to the statements.
In an interview with ESPN MMA, Chimaev refuted insinuations that a casual encounter could lead to a physical confrontation. He stated that there is no reason for this kind of talk, as both are contracted athletes and have the appropriate environment to resolve their differences: the UFC octagon.
“He says that if he sees me in a hotel, he’s going to do something. Man, we don’t need a hotel, you need to go to the UFC, you have a contract. If you want to fight, let’s go,” said Chimaev.

After a series of provocations from Chimaev, regarding Alex Poatán, Glover Teixeira He used a post on Instagram to take the discussion to another level. The veteran stated that the Chechen should earn his place before even thinking about facing the Pataxó.
The veteran also issued a direct warning to the Chechen, stating that he would not tolerate provocations outside of a professional setting. According to him, any attempt at confrontation in places like hotel lobbies would have immediate consequences, reinforcing the threatening tone that characterized his message.
