Charles Oliveira believes a victory over Max Holloway could be his passport to another title shot in the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg). The Brazilian, who was defeated by Ilia Topuria at UFC 317 , rebounded in front of his home crowd at UFC Rio in October and asked to face the Hawaiian for the BMF belt. With the fight now scheduled for UFC 326, the former champion is already planning a return to the top of the UFC.
In a video posted by UFC Brazil on Instagram, Charles highlighted that he is coming off a big win over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Rio. Even so, he remains fully focused on the fight against Max Holloway and believes that, in case of victory, he will have solid arguments to compete for the title again.

“I always say: a wounded lion is still a lion, nothing has changed. I just came from a great victory. I always focus on my next fight and my total focus now is on Max Holloway . If God blesses me and it's His will and I get through, why not be the next title contender?”, said Charles do Bronx.
Situation of the UFC lightweight division
After Ilia Topuria announced a break from his career to deal with personal matters, Dana White confirmed that Justin Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett will fight for the interim title in the UFC 324, scheduled for January 24th. The winner is expected to unify the belts against the Spaniard.
Meanwhile, Arman Tsarukyan , the number one ranked fighter and coming off a convincing victory over Dan Hooker at UFC Qatar, needs, according to Dana White, to prove that he deserves another chance to fight for the belt.
Further down the race, Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway face off at UFC 326, scheduled for March 7, both seeking a rematch against Topuria.
