It is not uncommon in MMA for fighters to move between different weight categories, moving up or down in weight depending on their results or performance. However, the configuration of the UFC's women's divisions ended up causing a scenario that was, to say the least, curious and forced the Brazilian Jessica Stacker cutting more than 9 kg to switch from bantamweight (up to 61,2 kg) to strawweight (up to 52,1 kg), the only options available in the organization.
In an interview with the North American website “MMA Fighting”, Jéssica, who had already said that she would not be able to drop weight in the past, explained what made her change her mind. “It's been easy. I expected it to be much more complicated, but I managed to weigh 59 kg and still eat well”, said the athlete from the “Paraná Vale-Tudo” gym.
At 24, Jessica Andrade has a record of 13 wins and five losses in MMA. Despite the change in category, “Bate-Estaca”, as she is known, is on a good recent run, with four wins in her last six fights in the octagon. In her last performance, however, the Brazilian was defeated by Rachel Pennington In September.
